At 18 nautical miles, Havelock (Swaraj Dweep) to Neil Island (Shaheed Dweep) is the shortest ferry route in the Andamans, and it is the standard hop for travellers seeing both islands in one trip. How long it takes depends entirely on who you book: Nautika crosses in 45 minutes, Makruzz in 60 and Green Ocean in 75. Every sailing on this sector is direct -- none of them calls anywhere en route. From October the sector runs a full schedule of eight departures a day between the three operators, spread from 08:15 to 15:00. September is both thinner and far narrower: two sailings a day to 14 September and four from the 15th, every one of them leaving between 09:15 and 10:00. There is no afternoon crossing to Neil in September at all, so this hop has to be the first thing in your day rather than something to fit around it.

Crossing time is an operator choice on this sector, not a fixed number: Nautika 45 minutes, Makruzz 60, Green Ocean 75. If you are trying to salvage an afternoon on Neil, that half hour is the difference.

Most departures are bunched between 08:15 and 10:45. Only two sailings in the whole sampled timetable leave later -- a Nautika at 15:00 and a Makruzz at 14:30 -- so this is a morning sector in practice.

Checked on 1 September 2026 across 47 sailings, Nautika was scheduled at 45 minutes on every sailing, Makruzz at 60 and Green Ocean at 75. It is still the shortest ferry route in the Andaman Islands at 18 nautical miles.
Eight a day once the full schedule is running -- three Nautika, three Makruzz and two Green Ocean -- which is what the feed showed on every date checked from 8 October 2026 to 18 February 2027. September is far thinner and steps up just once: two a day on both 6 and 14 September (Nautika 09:25, Makruzz 10:00), then three from 15 September straight through to 30 September as Green Ocean's first vessel joins at 09:15. Its second vessel does not join in September at all -- a full sweep on 11 September 2026, every date from 14 to 30 September, found the sector holds at three throughout, with the eighth-sailing step arriving only on 1 October. This page previously said the fourth sailing arrived on 16 September, then on 25 September; all three claims for a September step to four were wrong. Every September sailing leaves between 09:15 and 10:00. The cheapest seat steps with the first Green Ocean vessel, from ₹1,700 before 15 September to ₹1,050 from the 15th on. Three operators serve this sector, not four; ITT Majestic returned no sailings here on any date.
Technically yes -- a 9 AM outbound and an afternoon return can work -- but you'll only get 4 to 5 hours on Neil. A one-night stay is strongly recommended.
