Port Blair to Baratang Ferry
Makruzz begins sailing Port Blair to Baratang on 1 October 2026, and schedules for the opening period are already published -- the panel below pulls them live. Baratang sits in Middle Andaman and is best known for three things: the limestone caves at Nayadera, reached by a boat ride through dense mangrove creeks followed by a short walk; the mud volcanoes at Jalakiyari, small bubbling cones a short drive from the jetty; and Parrot Island, where thousands of parakeets come in to roost at dusk. Until now the only way in was the Andaman Trunk Road -- roughly 100 km of driving from Port Blair in a timed convoy that passes through the Jarawa Tribal Reserve, with a vehicle-ferry crossing at Middle Strait to Nilambur Jetty. Convoys leave Port Blair very early and the day is long. A sea crossing removes the convoy dependency entirely, which is the main reason travellers have been waiting for this sector.

Travel Tips
Before you sail
Sailings start 1 October 2026. Dates before that will show nothing, because the service has not opened yet rather than because it is sold out.
Photographing, filming or interacting with members of the Jarawa community is prohibited by law. This applies on the road route through the tribal reserve.
Most travellers do Baratang as a long day trip -- accommodation on the island is limited and basic.
The limestone caves involve a mangrove boat ride plus a walk of roughly 1 km each way, partly on uneven ground. Wear shoes you can walk in.
Carry cash. Card acceptance and mobile network coverage are both patchy once you leave Port Blair.
Parrot Island is a dusk activity, so it does not combine well with a same-day return sailing. Check your return time before committing to it.
