Ferry Route
Port Blair to Havelock Ferry
The Port Blair to Havelock ferry is the most travelled route in the Andaman Islands, linking the capital to Swaraj Dweep (Havelock), home of Radhanagar, Elephant and Kalapathar beaches. Four private operators run air-conditioned high-speed ferries daily. Per Makruzz's official boarding instructions, private departures from Port Blair usually board at Haddo Jetty (Phoenix Bay is used as a backup at times -- do read your ticket). The 38 nautical mile crossing takes 90 to 150 minutes depending on vessel and sea conditions. Sailings are clustered between 6 AM and 2 PM, so most travellers still get a full day on the island after a morning sailing. Note that helicopter services are also available as an alternative; check the A&N Administration fare schedule for details.
Departure:Haddo Jetty, Port Blair (check ticket)
Arrival:Havelock Jetty (Swaraj Dweep)
Travel Tips
Before you sail
Book 3–5 days ahead during peak season (October to May) -- morning ferries sell out first.
For private sailings, reach the jetty printed on your ticket (normally Haddo) at least 45 minutes ahead for security and ID checks. DSS sailings ask for 2 hours advance reporting.
Carry an original photo ID (Aadhaar/passport); it must match the name on the ticket.
The A/C inside the cabin is strong -- pack a light shawl or jacket, even in summer.
Makruzz is the most punctual; Green Ocean is the most budget-friendly; Nautika is the fastest.
